Pipe Sizing Expanders bring pipe or tube ends to a precise diameter to prepare them for soldering or brazing into sil-braz and other similar pipe fittings. A close manufacturing tolerance ensures that rolls expand in a parallel manner. When ordering this tool, please specify the tube Outer Diameter, tube Inner Diameter, tube metal and the approximate depth of rolling.
Linsen Expanders are power-driven tools designed for making tube connections without fittings. This expander enlarges the end of a tube leaving a .015-inch clearance for slip that allows for another tube to be inserted and soldered. This type of expander is perfect for short bends, U-turns, copper, brass, aluminum or thin steel tubing.
The Captive Mandrel Expander enables tubes to be rolled in places where mandrel travel is limited due to restriction in the tube’s Inner Diameter or tube bends near the rolling area. When ordering a Captive Mandrel Expander, please provide the details of your specific application including the tube Outer Diameter, Gauge, tubesheet thickness and maximum mandrel travel.
The Long-Reach Expander is designed to expand tubes at points as far back as 12 feet and even further upon request. This expander’s reach goes all the way to the point through which a tubesheet crosses a baffle sheet. The Long Reach Expander is designed for tubes with a 5/8 to 4-1/2-inch Outer Diameter and 8 to 22 Gauge.
Relieved Rolls are designed for rolling tubes with welded ends or expanding tubes at baffle sheets. They adapt to any Wilson 41, 44, 47, 72, 73 or UE Series Expander. They can be installed in minutes. To order a set of Relieved Rolls, simply specify the expander assembly part number and the effective roll length.
Thrust-Bearing Collars are assembly-furnished on all Expanders up to 1-inch Outer Diameter, except Wilson 72 and 73 Series Expanders, Gauge 20 to 23. Up to 15/16-inch recesses are available on request.
Deep-Recess Collars are available for the Wilson 72 and 73 Series Expanders and allow rolling on the far end where tubes project up to 3-inches (76.2mm). To order, specify “thin Gauge collar” and assembly number and required dash number – 7300 for 1-inch, 7200 for 2-inch and 7400 for 3-inch.
Close Collars offer optional collar assembly for rolling tubes too close to shell sides and divider plates to allow for the greater diameter of standard collars to pass. Close collars are available from flush to a 15/16-inch recess for all tube expanders offered.
Universal Tube Expanders Series UE-800, UE-1200 and UE-1200-A are designed for condenser tubes with a 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch Outer Diameter. The Universal Tube Expander is compatible with competitors’ products, including Airtoole and Cooper.
Universal Tube Expanders can be provided in 1-1/2-inch or 2-1/4-inch roll lengths.
Series 72-D and 73-D Expanders are also designed for the manufacture, repair and retubing of condensers with 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch tube Outer Diameter. They are both available in 4 and 5 roll models. The 5 roll models also come with a thin Gauge collar. The Series 72-D Expander has a reach of 1/2 to 2-1/4 inches, while the Series 73-D has a reach of 1-1/2 to 6-1/4 inches. All part numbers are easy to identify and interchange with competitor part numbers.
All series are provided with 2 1/4-inch roll lengths.
Series 72-C and 73-C Expanders are designed for the manufacture, repair and retubing of condensers with 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch tube Outer Diameter. The roll models that are designed for 20 to 23 Gauge also come with a thin Gauge collar. The recess is adjustable with the use of space washers. The thin Gauge collar’s unique design maintains tube end contact throughout expansion. The difference between the 72-C Series and the 73-C Series is in their reach; the 72-C Series has a 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch reach, while the 73-C Series has a 3/4 to 5-1/2-inch reach.
All series are provided with 1-1/2-inch roll length.

The Pneumatic Vise is available in sizes ranging from 5/8 to 1-1/2-inch (15.9 – 38.1mm) Outer Diameter and offers the most rugged, precision built, completely trouble-free air tool designed to remove spears from tubes. The vise comes complete with two five-foot air hoses, foot control valve with guard, and fittings ready for use. The Pneumatic Vise is 12-inches in length and 6-inches in width and height. Its jaw width is 3-inches and its jaw depth is 2-inches. The vise weighs 24 pounds (10 kilograms) with a maximum operating pressure of 150 pounds (68 kilograms) per square inch. Its gripping force is 15 times airline pressure and its maximum jaw opening (without jaw plates) is 3-inches.
The Hydraulic Collet Tube Extractor is designed for 5/8 to 1-1/4-inch (15.9 – 31.8mm) Outer Diameter and allows for quick and efficient removal of tubes from heat. The system is faster than manual tube pulling, saving on time and resources. Minimal training or experience is required to operate the system which features a fast and efficient trigger operation and a gripper that retracts with a spring return, further improving productivity. Featuring a heavy-duty, single-action hydraulic cylinder, this tube extractor offers quick-disconnect couplings and a thermal-protected motor. The WPP-1500 Tube Puller is designed for 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch (12.7 – 38.1mm) Outer Diameter and features a heavy-duty, double-acting hydraulic cylinder with hydraulic return and a 30-ton capacity. A safety relief valve on the cylinder protects against over pressurising. Its quick-acting, cylinder-mounted safety lock provides positive engagement with a notched spear extension. All hose connections to the cylinder and pump have quick-disconnect couplings. Maximum operating pressure is 10,000 psi.
Manual Tube Pullers are easy to use and available in sizes ranging from 1/4 to 1-1/4-inch (6.4 – 31.8mm) Outer Diameter. Manual tube pullers only require hand wrenches for insertion and withdrawal and their overall length is kept short to better operate in tight places.

Tube Knockout and Collapsing Tools minimise removal costs and are specially designed as companions to the Tube Wall Reducing Tool. Tube Knockout and Collapsing Tools can be used on tubes with a 1/4 to 2-inch Outer Diameter (6.4 – 50.8mm). Tube Knockout Tools are also available in extra lengths for 5/8 to 1-1/4-inch Outer Diameter (15.9-31.8mm). Tube knockout tools for use with a No. 80 Boyer Gun can also be provided and are available in sizes from 1 to 2-inch (25.4-50.8mm) Outer Diameter.
Tube Wall Reducing Tools help relieve tube joints prior to cutting. Their innovative, self-center design prevents damage to the sheet. In addition, tubes do not need to be cleaned prior to use. Tube Wall Reducing Tools can be used on tubes with a 1/4 to 1-1/2-inch Outer Diameter (6.4 – 38.1mm).
Both the Flat and Radius Tube End Facing Tools trim tubes to a consistent projection. They feature an adjustable collar for projection control, a removable taper or chucking shank that provides drives flexibility and cutters that can easily be sharpened. Insert Type Tube End Facing Tools can be used on tubes with a 5/8 to 2-inch Outer Diameter (15.9 – 50.8mm).
One Revolution Tube Cutters are used in heat exchangers. They cut up to 10-inch thick tubesheets and tubes with 1/2 to 1-1/2-inch (12.7 – 38.1mm) Outer Diameter. No special drives are required as these Tube Cutters can be used with a hand wrench or ratchet.
They can therefore also be effectively used to vent tubes before plugging.
Push Type Tube Cutters are designed for cutting and removing ferrous and non-ferrous tubes with 1/2 to 2-inch (12.7 – 50.8mm) Outer Diameter. These efficient tools cut tubes in seconds and attach to both electric and pneumatic drills. The tube trimmer is attached to the push type tube cutter when considerable tube projection needs to be cut off.
Various lengths, that are able to cut past the tubesheet, are available; depending on the Gauge and the material of tube, bits with protective coating are also available. While it is difficult to cut heavy Gauge tube .016-inch and up, this tool simplifies the process.
Thread Chasing Tools for heat exchangers are used in conjunction with packing removal tools. Thread chasing tools will remove any leftover packing material in tubesheet hole threads before re-packing is done and are available in the following threads: 7/8-16 (3-5/8 OAL, 5/8 drive square), 7/8-18 (3-5/8 OAL, 5/8 drive square), 1-16 (3-3/4 OAL, 3/4 drive square) and 1-18 (3-3/4 OAL, 3/4 drive square).
Aluminum Tube Guides protect the tube end during installation and ensure accurate alignment of the tube through the baffle. Standard guides are available in seven sizes with a wide range of Gauge options and packaged in groups of 10. Other sizes and materials are available as well. Replacement nylon brushes are also available. Made-to-order sizes from 3/8″ to 3″ Outer Diameter is also available.
Carbide Burs are .005 larger than tube holes, within TEMA specifications and are available for .640 to 1.015-inch (16.3 – 25.8mm) Outer Diameter. Carbide Burs for heat exchangers feature a left hand spiral, a right hand cut and a 1/2-inch diameter shank.
Swing Frame Brushes are made for cleaning straight and curved tubes in large diameter pressure vessels with 3 to 21-inch Outer Diameter. They are perfect for removing light soot, mill scale and welding splatter or flash.
AP Brush is used after a Cutter Bit has cleaned heavily clogged tubes. The P Brush is also used with the Push Rod for manual cleaning of condensers, evaporators and fire tube boilers. These brushes can be used on PG, PGX and TP302 models. Bit Adapters are used to connect P Brushes to drill shafts.
The U-Bend Cleaning Assembly is designed for cleaning 3/4 to 1-1/2-inch Outer Diameter curved tubes. The stainless steel assembly is ideal for cleaning ferrous tubes, while the brass cleaning head is ideal for cleaning nonferrous tubes.
Spiral Brushes are available in nylon, brass (for copper tubes), steel and stainless steel. Remember to always match metals. The Spin Grit and Spin Clean Brushes have abrasive-impregnated nylon filaments and they are specially designed for cleaning enhanced tubes in heat exchangers and tubes in surface condensers.

Buffing Tools are made for the final finish cleaning of 1/2 to 3-1/2-inch Outer Diameter Tubes. Sets of wires clean away debris after using an Expanding Brush or an Expanding Scraper. Replacement wire blades keep the unit affordable.
Manual Tube Cleaning Extension Rods and Handles are available in .16 to 1-1/2-inch diameter range. The available lengths are 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6-feet. Any material brush can be used. Special kits can also be made for specific applications.
Wils-Away™ Shafts and Casings are available in nylon, Teflon® and steel. Smaller diameter casings are nylon (or Teflon®, if they will be run dry) and larger casings are steel and nylon rubberised materials. Shafts and Casings parts are designed for forward/reverse cleaning, such as cleaning enhanced tubes with a Spin Grit or Spin Clean brush. All shafts and casings are designed to attach to competitors’ tube cleaners.
The Expanding Scraper compliments the Expanding Brush and is recommended for removing soft, wet, or gummy deposits, such as mud or marine growth. The Expanding Scraper cleans tubes from 5/8-inch to 6-1/2-inch Outer Diameter. The blades in the Expanding Scraper do not fill with debris as they do when cleaning soft and gummy deposits with a brush and are quickly replaced as they wear.
The Expanding Brush is ideal for removing light to medium powdery deposits such as rust, scale and chemical precipitates in tubes from 5/8-inch to 6-1/2-inch Outer Diameter. The Expanding Brush lasts 10 to 20 times longer than conventional brushes providing an excellent value. The Expanding Brush is available with steel, stainless steel, bronze or nylon brush bristles.
